Meet Our Board Members

Miranda Harton, Chairman 

Miranda is a wife and mother of two young children, a woman who lives and breathes the philosophy of living life in harmony with nature. The previous owner of Namaste in Nature, a nature and yoga retreat company, she brings a tremendous amount of experience to the team. She raises her barefoot babies intentionally, bringing them outside daily and making sure they nourish their minds and bodies with healthy food and an active lifestyle. 

Jennifer Ames (Vice-Chairman)

Jennifer Ames lives in Old Fort with her husband, two dogs, and one cat. She has two grown children and one grown bonus child. Jen is co-owner of Mountain Laurel Montessori Collective with her sister, Ali. Jen has been an educator for almost 20 years. She enjoys spending her time outdoors, going on traveling adventures and experiencing live music. 

Matthew Hughes (Founder and Treasurer)

Matthew Hughes is a husband and father of three barefoot babies. As the co-owner of the lifestyle clothing brand Barefoot Baby, Matt is able to blend his love for the outdoors with his entrepreneurial spirit. In his free time he enjoys working with his hands to build things and take care of the family's homestead. 

Katelyn Reid

Katie is a devoted wife and proud mother to an adventurous baby girl. With a heart for service and community, Katie is passionate about creating inclusive events that bring families together and encourage everyone to enjoy the outdoors. She is an active member of the Marion Rotary Club, and also serves the public through her work with the City of Marion where she continues to help shape a vibrant, welcoming community for all residents. Whether she's organizing an event, working on city initiatives, or soaking up moments with her barefoot baby, Katie brings creativity and dedication to everything she does. 

Cameron Boles

Cameron Boles lives in Marion with his wife and Old Fort native, Laura, and their twins. Cameron is a Certified Financial Planner and Kingdom Advisor and started his Edward Jones office on Main Street in Marion in 2018. He's active in his church, in the community through Rotary and the Gideons International, and is often hiking, biking, ballroom dancing, and playing sports with his family.

Alyssa Hughes (Founder)

Alyssa Hughes is a wife, mother of three beautiful children, and lover of the outdoors. Alyssa holds a Master of Psychology degree from Southern Connecticut State University, spent time as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard, and is the founder and co-owner of the lifestyle clothing brand Barefoot Baby.  She is extremely passionate about bringing the joy of the outdoors to families and works avidly for the foundation, in collaboration with other local nonprofits, in service organizations like the Marion Business Association, the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and her church. In her free time she enjoys hiking, raising animals on their homestead, laughing with her friends, and spending time outside with her family.
